Research and Co-design (Service/Process Designer & Design Thinking) for a new social and educational model and new solutions that can be adopted by School and Independent Cultural Centers.

The scope of the design team was aimed at identifying problems in the process and services, in the methodology and education system of the SOS in its first year of activity and the development of debugging tools and solutions.

The scope was mainly explore further into the work of Project DEFY and to get a deeper understanding of the problems of education they face today through human centred design approach.

Another main focus was to create "a true sense of community" at the nooks and to create an acceleration program for learners, create a program to take the learners to the next phase of their goal settings and objective achievement.

Design Research

The bugs, or problems, have been identified through scrupulous work of mapping the sources and constructing meaning. A second design phase led us to define possible debugging actions, some of which were prototyped and tested.

During the analysis phase we identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The activity of the design tema went, in many cases, beyond problem solving, into the field of sense making. It was in fact necessary to identify or, rather, rediscover the meaning of some solutions, decisions and logic, reconstructing the path and the evolution. For this purpose, the mapping of the elements and processes that make up the SOS has proved to be a useful and effective strategy.

To understand the SOS organization, its operation and its actors, we started with a stakeholders map (1% -19% - 80%). The identified actors were therefore classified through the use of the salience map, a model that allows defining the priority. The development went ahead with the mapping (using different tools, such as touchpoint, system map, holistic map, user jounrey, personas, etc) of the entire process and service to define a list of problems and the relative solutions that have been prototyped and tested.
