Design Positive Vibes

As a designer I want to explore and use the design thinking approach in everyday life and in social innovation; designing services and experiences to improve people's lives, especially in poor and vulnerable communities. A design centered on human needs, a creative approach to solving problems that starts with people and reaches new customized solutions to satisfy their lives.

Approach

People are the center, and we co-design with them. It all starts with the community for whom we are designing; from there we start to build, test and iterate.
The problems in the social sector are immense, systemic and complex, but a design-driven approach, the right team and constant commitment can create a transformative change.

Process

The design thinking process is best thought of as a system of overlapping spaces rather than a sequence of orderly steps. There are three spaces to keep in mind: inspiration, ideation, and implementation. Think of inspiration as the problem or opportunity that motivates the search for solutions; ideation as the process of generating, developing, and testing ideas; and implementation as the path that leads from the project stage into people’s lives.

Inspiration is the first step - observing how things and people interact in the real world (also being in the field) - that's very useful for drawing inspiration.

During the ideation phase it's important to let the ideas flow without judgment. Divergent thinking and having many ideas lead to disruptive solutions and long-term benefits.
